Erica Jones is a healthcare attorney with a passion for improving systems through legal innovation, policy advocacy, and equitable access to care. At Gardner Skelton, she supports the firm’s Healthcare and Corporate teams, drawing on a unique blend of transactional experience and public health expertise. Before relocating to North Carolina, Erica practiced in California, where she advised healthcare providers and entities on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships. Her work also includes drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, from asset purchase and service agreements to HIPAA-compliant business associate agreements, physician employment agreements, and NDAs. Erica’s background in public health gives her a deep understanding of the systems-level challenges faced by healthcare clients and the regulatory landscape in which they operate.

Making a Difference
Erica’s commitment to health equity and public service has shaped her career and community involvement. She earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University, where she focused on health systems and policy, while gaining specialized knowledge in health disparities, environmental and occupational health, and public health advocacy. That perspective continues to inform her legal work and volunteer efforts, which include supporting various community organizations and seeking pro bono work that help vulnerable communities. Erica is a member of the Black Women Lawyers Association and the American Health Law Association.
