Fred Parker focuses his practice in taxation. He counsels and represents businesses and individuals experiencing disputes and controversies before the Internal Revenue Service and state Departments of Revenue. This includes matters involving examinations and audits, prosecuting appeals, defending payroll tax / trust fund recovery penalty investigations, sales and use tax inquiries, levy and garnishment actions against wages and property, tax lien filings, applications for innocent spouse and offer in compromise relief, assisting taxpayers with individual and commercial tax recovery, and ongoing settlement discussions and negotiations.

Fred’s representation extends through navigating administrative processes to appearing before applicable state and federal courts, including the United States Tax Court and North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings.

Fred also advises exempt organizations (including non-profits) and businesses on internal tax compliance and governance matters such as compensation and benefit corrective measures, private inurement concerns, intermediate sanctions, political limitations, unrelated business activities, and corresponding work with federal, state, and local taxing authorities.

Fred’s background in commercial litigation and associated transactional work allows him to provide his clients a different and effective approach for handling these situations.
